Vibration level measurements

Vibration level measurements

  • Underground train vibration measurements on dwelling's floor

  • Vibration measurement in spring mounts

  • Vibration measurements

  • building vibration measurement

  • vibration isolation selection

Vibration level measurements require experienced personnel and advanced acoustic measurement equipment. ALPHA ACOUSTIKI carries out measurements with 3-axial accelerometers, which can be executed in buildings and in mechanical or HVAC machinery (i.e. chilling units, air-conditioning units, gen sets, boilers, HVAC etc) or industrial plants.

The anti-vibration control studies focus on reducing the created shocks by examining how the

vibrations are created and transferred through the air or the structures

The following indicators can be monitored and calculated depending on the nature of the vibration:

  • RMS (Root Mean Square) weighted acceleration measured in (m/sec2)
    • PPV (Peak particle velocity) PPV measured in m/sec
  • vibration dose value (VDV measured in m/sec2 according to the standard BS 6472.
    • Spectra analysis in 1/1 or 1/3 octave bands starting from 1 Hz
    • FFT analysis and waterfall graph presentation of results.

There are various types of accelerometers for measuring vibrations depending on each application. In particular, our company is equipped with industrial type single axis accelerometer and tri-axis accelerometer with high sensitivity (1V/g) for building vibration measurements.

Our noise and vibration consultants will be happy to recommend solutions to reduce the ground-borne and building structure-borne vibration, which often creates disturbance problems.

When applicable, vibration control measurements are followed by a proposal of a vibration isolator that will reduce the structure-borne noise transmission.

Impact Sound level measurements (with tapping machine)

Our company is equipped with a new technology tapping machine, which is an impact sound generator. With this tapping machine we can conduct Impact sound level measurements in building’s floors with different coverings, in accordance with EN ISO 140-7: Field measurements of impact sound insulation of floors.

The method is applicable to bare floors and also to floors with coverings, in order to evaluate the Normalized impact noise level (L’n) and Standardized impact noise level (L’nT) parameters.

The evaluation of the reduction of the Weighted normalized impact sound pressure level,( Ln,w ) by floor coverings on lightweight floors are based on EN ISO 717-2:2013: Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. Part 2: Impact sound insulation.
